William McCall Calhoun

William McCall Calhoun Jr is a classic 60’s liberal.  Born in 1963 in Georgia, he donated to Democrats, campaigned for Democrats, even ran for office as a Democrat.Calhoun was an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton and cursed out people whom he knew voted for Trump.

The grandson of a lawyer and the son of a doctor, William counts John C Calhoun–the Vice President of America’s 6th President, John Quincy Adams, as his ancestor.  He grew up in the small town of Americus and attended the private school, Southland Academy, where he discovered his love of the law.  He went on to the University of Georgia and joined a fraternity but also hung out with the bohemians and rockers of the time.  He joined a band called Fashion Battery as a bass player.  He began his legal career in Americus, the international headquarters of Habitat for Humanity.

Calhoun had a stint as a public defender, which helped shape his view that the criminal justice system could be racist and too hard on people.  Later, he opened his own private practice which served the Americus community, many of whom could not afford an expensive attorney.  He had a sliding scale.  From one client, he accepted his payment in the form of a tie-dye garment.

But he was also a hunter and decried the push for gun control, many of his Democrat friends called him racist and a white supremacist which flipped a switch for him. Calling him a racist because he wanted the freedom to own a gun? He became a Trump supporter.

The violent BLM riots of 2020 shocked and dismayed him.  William saw society coming apart.  Always passionate, he posted against the “BLM-Antifa crime wave” and viewed Biden a mouthpiece for tyranny and deception. He had posted his view of Biden, “Hang the bastard.”  A friend of his described his change as “the same old banty rooster, just on the other side of the fence.”

William traveled to Washington DC on January 6th as a “pissed off patriot.” Calhoun went into the capitol once the breach had been made and was led by a “protestor” who was likely a Trump dressed FBI agent, according to Congressman Higgins, to Nancy Pelosi’s office.  The Capitol building is a labyrinthian maze and one could not find any specific office unless they knew the layout.  He posted that he was among “the first of us who got upstairs to kick in Nancy Pelosi’s office door.”

On January 13, 2021, FBI agents arrested Calhoun at his sister’s house in Macon GA.  He was denied bail initially but was eventually able to obtain it.  He refused to plead guilty.

Back in Americus, he continued to practice law with an ankle bracelet before his trial in March of 2021.  A friend with one count got six months but Calhoun was up against five counts.  William said he should be offered the same treatment as his co-defendant instead of receiving “the Osama bin Laden treatment.” William insisted his entry into the Capitol was as a “peaceful protest.”

At his hearing on August 4, 2023, he was sentenced to eighteen months for the 1512 statue of obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony, as well as entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.

The video evidence, the testimony of the Chief of Capitol Police, as well as eye witness account shows that January 6th was a set up.  William is likely an even stronger patriot at this point.

William would appreciate prayers, as well as letters.
